been a busy few weeks here – mostly getting cooper settled in his new school, recovering from all the holiday chaos – and the crazy number of snow day.   Getting new things ready for the photography side of  life!  and boy do I have some new cool things .. new printing lab – LOVING, new canvas company LOVING, new album company LOVING, new jewelry supplier coming, mini sessions later this month, I’ve been doing some private photography lessons – which – are SO much fun!  I’ve had a lot of interest in those – without even advertising, so I’m planning a class in April – more to come on that soon…AND awesome SENIOR stuff coming soon!  (for high school seniors – my poor husband was confused).  Oh.. and.. studio lighting – for those times when we just need to use studio lights!  I’ve taken over yet another room here at the house and am having so much fun!

I can’t believe how much my business grew last year – thanks to all my awesome clients!  I enjoy it soooo much!  Last year, I limited the number of sessions I took to about 6 a month (Oct, Nov – many more than that).  With my kids as small as they are and as much as I love being able to be part of their lives, I will continue this policy.   Those on my newborn plans get first selection of dates, but I will do my best to fit everyone in!  There will be mini sessions again in October specifically for Christmas Cards.   Just this week, I’ve booked 10 sessions for the Fall – love it!  I can’t imagine how much the kids are going to have changed from last Fall!!!

now for some pictures – please excuse the quality – taken with a $99 nikon coolpix point and shoot!  lots of red-eye!!!

Cooper went to his first sleep over!!! his friend Collin (and little brother Connor) invited him over for the night.. a HUGE step for me!

love those kids!  they had a great time – so glad to have such great friends!

then.. last monday night we took the kids SKIING to Wolf.. ALL THREE of them!!!   We got on the slopes at 8pm – bedtime back at home.. the kids did awesome.. tom and i had sooo much fun watching them figure it out and get braver and braver!  emily mostly watched and then would stand on our skis and ski with tom or me.  abby is really good!  cooper likes to fall a lot.

abby – em in the back – always has her eyes on me!

look at them!!!

so all was fine – until about 9:20.  Cooper started getting really tired.. time for a break.. tom went to hand little emily to me (we were stopped) and I didn’t have a good hold on her – to the ground she went – i grabbed her foot, but her head already hit the hard snow… so.. to Ski Patrol we went – thanks to Matthew for cleaning her head and taking care of us!  she was a bit goofy for a few minutes..

but the hot cocoa helped!  we had sooo much fun.. emily has a heck of a boo boo on her head..

we got home LATE on Monday night.. well, the next day was Dr. Seuss day for Cooper.. well, at 6:49am, I remembered that Coop needed to dress up as a Dr. Seuss character.. he needed to leave the house at 7:30 – lunches were not packed, kids still asleep..  in a bit of a panic, I thought – he can be a Sneetch (you know, with the star upon thars.. ).. pretty simple, even i can cut out a star!!!  from his very high loft bed, his sleeeeepy voice came down, “mom, i really want to be Cat in the hat”.. oh.. um.. well, um.. “we don’t have time Cooper”.. “sniff, sniff.. okaaaaaay”.. he says.. well, of course I HAD to figure this out.. it’s not great, not close to great, but this 6 year old boy thought I was pretty awesome!!!

i think that catches us all back up..

katy: aww this are ALL so cute but especially the pic of the sleep-over:) it was such a special time and im glad we got to share it together!

mary: if u want to travel, my little guy just turned 7 months old...sitting well and smiles A LOT!! :) There is a non walking 9 month old in his little class....

last week was not great.. just not good – in fact i really thought i was going to lose my mind.  with the bad “weather” ..  we had only TWO days of school last week… i had sooo much work to do and just could not get it done – i try to just work on MWF during the school day so we have a balanced family life.. well, i am really quite busy and only having three work days in the past month - i was near insanity!!!  especially when MOST of the days the schools have been closed, a delay would have been more than appropriate.. and then random fever and sickness.. gosh.. finally I stayed up until 2am one night and got caught up and could relax about the kids being home and losing work days..

so, for most of the week ALL the kids were home – ALL DAY.. i tried to come up with non-tv/movie things to do.. we did potato stamp painting, made color wheels, played lots of dolls and legos, squeezed lots of oranges for fresh juice, lots of cooking – made potstickers one day – OMG sooo great.. recipe here… kids loved and helped with assembly..

here’s abby stamping away.. with the triangle.. which obviously Cooper is waiting patiently to steal..

IMG_9781e

my in-laws sent this AWESOME juicer.. here abby is juicing oranges while emily waits for her turn “emmies turrrrrn”..  we ran through the oranges by Wednesday, so we moved on to lemons for some yummy lemonade.. well the kids were like “um.. it’s not my favorite”.. i kept putting more sugar in.. and it really was pretty tart… finally i wrote my father-in-law and said “apparently I need a recipe for lemonade”.. his response.. “add water”.. OMG, freakin’ dork!!!   we had enough lemon starter for TWO pitchers of lemonade.. it was really good too!!!

abbyoranges

then.. in search of some new recipes – i saw a potstickers recipe on rachel ray..  if you know me, you know letting go of control has always been an issue.. allowing the kids to help with this type of activity is hard for me because i want to have it done perfectly.. I’ve found, if i have my camera – it helps me deal with the situation like a normal non-control freak person!  here is abby getting ready to close her first wonton wrapper.. (note the pink tent in the background – see we tried everything to get through the week!!)

abbypotsticker

the finished product.. emily ate THREE.. the kids loved them.. and never would have eaten if they hadn’t been part of making them

potstickers

now.. on to the nice weekend…

then on Saturday we took a spontaneous trip to South Carolina to hang out with my family.. what a gorgeous day.. 63 degrees.. we went to a park and just let all our kids run and play.. the sun felt soooo great.. the kids were just smiling from ear to ear..

emilykite

the kite is nice and all, but there was no wind – so the kids just ran and pulled the kite along for a bit..

I LOVE THIS PICTURE.. Untitled-1

here is hoping for more of the awesome weekend weather.. soooooon!

one year old – and such a boy!   he has the sweetest mom too – i swear i nearly talked her to death.  I’ve been trapped in my house on snow days with my 3 kids for weeks – sorry about that Alison!  Little Louis – man he is quick and so funny to watch.  As most one year olds who have just begun walking, louis is fast and crazy observant.  it’s as if they can sense when gates have been left open, when cabinets are left unlocked – and louis is NO exception.. i just loved watching him keep his mom on her toes.. he’s a sweet little boy with a wonderful family.. i just wanted to squeeze him – but at one, that may terrify him.. so i stuck behind the camera…

hope you enjoy the tiny peek

not sure who the lucky recipient of these pretties was.. but tiffany called and asked if i was up to photographing a quick duo for her.. how could i say no..

hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.. here’s hoping for a nice week of full school days and healthy children for all!

emma & jack :: 3 months later

February 12, 2010

when mom, emily, told me how much jack had grown – well, you know all mom’s think their baby is amazing and grows like a weed.. but this little guy, ohmygosh.. he was huge – and so dang cute – and happy and solid and – OH that new baby smell.. you may remember lil’ jack and his adorable sister, emma, from here.. this is a mere 3 months later… yes, he is just 3 months old!  emma is a really sweet big sister – holding his little hands and tiny gentle kisses for him – oh.. love..

the 3rd… :: emily

February 4, 2010

last night tom and i were chatting in the kitchen.. just enjoying a few minutes with no kids around and actually able to finish a sentence.. then we hear water.. and just the sink – odd.. normally at 10:30, you hear a flush followed by hand washing.. interesting.. then we look at each other and say “emily” at the same time.. she is such trouble.. constant.. so we make our way up the stairs to find emily on top of the vanity.. WIDE awake..

“i wash them all up”

DSCN2529

and not even the slightest bit afraid, worried, concerned that she is totally supposed to be in bed asleep.. she knows – with all her heart that her daddy will see her and think she is cute and laugh at this..

DSCN2532e

mary: She just KNOWS she's cute. :) Hard to resist that girl. Ok, now, How is it that you have 3 kids and there is no toothpaste stuck all over the sink???

Rebecca: Didn't you read the post? Emily had spent many minutes cleaning everything all up!

Holly: Too adorable. Now I want a little girl :)
